Black-ish Is to never feel like you belong, you're too white for the black community and to black for the white community.
Black-ish Is when you identify as a strong black female, but the world see you as white women with a nice tan.
Black-ish Is when you feel like you always have to make a point of letting people your half Jamaican for them to say 'oh I thought you had something in you because of your hair or your nose'
Black- ish is to lose your friends because they don't see your struggles and think your being extra when you try to tell them.
Black-ish is wanting your hair in box braids for people to then tell you, you look like a real black women now.
Black- ish is to never know which side to choose is always thinking it's got to be one or the other because society won't let you have both.
Black- ish is people asking you if that's really your family because they are so dark and you're so white.
Black-ish…

I certainly cannot know exactly what this feels like, but you expressed it eloquently. Part of being a writer is putting into words that tell a compelling story. I think you have the beginnings of an interesting story. I look forward to more of your voice.
